The concept of "six degrees of separation" is based on any type of social relationship as explained here on Wikipedia. So the question is sort of like comparing apples to footballs. So 5th cousins could be only one degree of separation apart if they happened to be neighbors or married to each other. As Kylie has already pointed out "degrees of separation" are not necessarily the same as biological relationships. ![]()
